The Smart Electronic Tourniquet System In surgery of the limbs a tourniquet cuff is always placed in position in preparation. It's use is of great importance in most situations. Inflating the cuff will block blood flow into the limb and reduces bleeding during the operation. It is very important to keep the pressure at the correct level and the cuff must be always deflated after 90 minutes of use to avoid harmful complications. |
| The Old System The older system connects the cuff to an outlet of the clinic's compressed air supply via a manual pressure regulator and tubes leading from the wall outlet to the cuff. The surgeon has to watch the pressure and keep track of the time elapsed without any control system. Obviously this requires attention of the staff. Analog pressure regulators must be tested and calibrated from time to time, their accuracy and ability to compensate for fluctuations is limited. Key features of the Electronic System Independent and computerized The Electronic Tourniquet Control Unit offered by T.A.G. is a fully independent electrically driven unit with computerized control. This enables the surgeon to use the free standing and fully controlled tourniquet system with full confidence, in the optimum manner, without distracting his attention from the operation in progress.
